Annecy
Some say Annecy is the Venice of the French Alpes… We say, why compare? Annecy doesn’t need to be the Venice of the French Alpes, it is simply Annecy! Beautiful and spectacular!
We arrived in Annecy late morning and were soon overwhelmed with the number of people. It must have been market day as the cobbled streets were lined with market stalls and it was wall to wall people. We took refuge on a park bench in Jardins de l’Europe, a lovely park on the lake front.
It’s definitely European summer holiday time and Annecy is a very popular holiday spot to relax and enjoy the lake with all sorts of water activities on offer. We regrouped and took in all the sights that Annecy has to offer. We finished off the visit with a ride along some of the 42km bike track circumnavigating the lake on a couple rental “Cruisers” (a very comfortable ride).
Definitely a place to spend more time at, but it’s off to Chamonix riding the rails!
