Tour du Mont Blanc – Day 11
We awoke to our last day on the TMB! Where have all the days, kilometres ascents and descents gone?
We couldn’t believe we were only a day’s walk from completing the circuit! We were lulled into a false sense of security thinking that today’s walk would be easy. Dianne our guide had quoted that we only had an initial 750m ascent, but we had failed to absorb the fact that there would be over 1100m of a combined ascent due to the contouring along the mountain side until we reached the top of the original cable car we had taken on day one, effectively completing our circuit!
Each day the temperature has been increasing, so today was hot. This along with the mental state of switching off on the last day caught us out making it a tougher day than it should have been. The initial ascent was on stony and mostly exposed paths. We stopped a number of times to take a rest before pushing on and reaching the top. Lunch was enjoyed at a mountain side Albergue and we sampled some local sweet pasteries to help us on the way. Before long, we had completed the walk, but not only that, Jenny and I had completed another amazing adventure!
Our group had gelled well, so it was time for celebrative drinks and our final shared meal before we all make tracks and say our farewells.

Congratulations, another one to tick off the list! Thanks for sharing it with us – amazing photos.
Safe travels onwards. Xx
Well done guys. The ohotos have been amazing so in real life it must have been a very special time. The view in Surrey hills is going to be pretty lame. You can walk to our house if you need to go uphill!
Enjoy a few more ice creams before you come home Steve cause she may take them off the menu again.

Yes, we will definitely miss the views of Mont Blanc! And yes, I’ll miss those gelato’s as they will be off the menu when I get home. Thanks for your comments. See you soon.
You’ve done it ! ! Congratulations on your mighty achievement – walking the M.B.T. – especially in the light of the events of January 2016 at Pambula. You are both amazing and we are absolutely in awe of this latest success . Steve your photos are brilliant and viewing them has been the the highlight of our last eleven days. We hope you enjoyed celebrating with your group. – you all deserved it. Alison and Geoff.
Have loved following the ascents and descents with you both. Superb effort yet again Jen and Steve. Enjoy the rest!
