Courmayeur, Italy – Day 6

Today is our rest day… We had our first slow start for the trip. We were hoping to ride the Sky Rail up 3500m, but today’s weather was overcast with a chance of rain, so we didn’t want to chance it.

Instead after a leisurely breakfast, we took a bus trip to the township of Aosta for some sightseeing and a visit of the Roman ruins. It’s surprising all the places that Roman ruins turn up!

The highlight was probably eating ice cream! Just shows you how deprived we have been over the long days of hiking. It was good just to wander the streets and take in the sights.

Tomorrow we will be back on the trail. The plan is to leave later than usual as th day isn’t as long as previous days and the weather is forecast to clear and there are meant to be more spectacular views once we climb 800m or so. (You would have expected great views!)

Today’s photos are a mix of the township of Aosta and Courmayeur. Courmayeur is an up market Italian sky resort, just like Chamonix is for the French (Although Chamonix is a larger town)!
