London – Day 3
Today saw an early start with us off to Paddington Station and onto Windsor Castle. Wow! This is an impressively big castle and very imposing from its elevated position. The excellent audio guide assisted us around the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and St George’s Chapel. A most worthwhile & interesting experience. Being a distinguished dinner guest of the Queen’s at Windsor Castle would be an unforgettable experience! (Shame, it was not to be for us mere peasants).
What next? Why not do back to back Castles in one day? So it was back to London to spend the afternoon at the Tower of London and enjoy a very entertaining tour by a Yeoman Warder (Beefeater). By late afternoon we were suffering from information overload, however after a Caffeine hit, we were able to enjoy the viewing of the Crown Jewels. These were the shiny sparkly and more impressive type, but still priceless (just in case you were thinking something different!). The view of Tower Bridge from the Tower of London is simply spectacular and London is such a large impressive and overwhelming city!
Our hectic pace is catching up to us as we dragged ourselves back to the apartment to do some chores and plan for our last day in London. 😩
