Ennerdale – Coast to Coast (Day 1)
Best sleep ever! Another very comfy bed always makes for a good night sleep. The day starts with a full cooked breakfast. Easily justified by the 25km we’d be walking.
The weather was also kind to set us on our way for the first leg of the Coast to Coast walk that we’ll be spending the next 15 days walking over 300km across England. However, the forecast for the next few days isn’t as inspiring with rain on the way!
We set off at a leisurely hour and headed for the beach to collect a pebble to transport across to the coast on the other side as well as dipping our toes into the Irish Sea.
After the rituals were taken care off, we were on our way. Time was against us as we needed to be at Ennerdale before 6:30 so we could get picked up and transported by our Hotel. We ended up not taking a break and eating on the run. The walk was tough, both for the long kilometres covered and for the steep terrain we had to both ascend and descend, but we made it into town by 5:45pm.
Feeling much better after a hot shower and dinner we were ready to turn in for an early night!
