Rome – Day 3
Date: Wed 26th June
Temperature: warm
Mood: Happy
Highlight: Michelangelo’s Moses
Today’s itinerary was a mash up of 3 days worth of previously planned itineraries where we missed landmarks primarily due to getting lost along the way. The days itinerary had us circumnavigate the entire old city of Rome and also included all the main landmarks with some of them getting a second visit such as the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.
The day brought lots of sights and was also the first full day in which we didn’t get lost! We visited a number of Rome’s churches including one that houses one of Michelangelo’s masterpieces “Moses”. This same church also houses an ancient christian relic of the chains that held saint Peter during his captivity and before his miraculous release.
The day was finished off with some last minute shopping and then Pizza and Pasta for dinner.
This marks our last full day before returning home tomorrow. It’s so hard to believe we have been away from home for 8 weeks. This will be one of our final blogs for this trip, but stay tuned as we intend to do a wrap up post soon after we arrive home.

What a fantastic time you have enjoyed in Rome. Thanks for the beautiful pics and stories. Have a good flight home. I hope gelato is on the in flight menu otherwise you two will suffer withdrawals!
Glad to see you got a final fix of gelato. Peter was reading your blog out last night, and Nicola said “When can we go back to Rome, Mum?” Your whole trip has been inspiring, a really magical experience. Hope to see you soon…
Thank you Stephen and Jenny for a wonderful experience on the Camino and on your well organised holiday , we have enjoyed every step. The photos have been brilliant.
When should we look forward to the final blog?
Hope you had a good flight home & it’s not too much of a shock being back in cold Melbourne! What a great trip you had, was great to see your pictures (& very happy faces) as we’ve travelled around – when wifi willing. Really enjoyed seeing Venice & Rome when we’d not long been there – your photos were far more impressive than ours Steve, think you might win the slide night!
Will catch up soon, only 2 1/2 more weeks for us – in Carcassone, France today & catch up with Binns tomorrow for week on Le Boat, then Lyon & try to do justice to your itinerary of Paris.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us, will miss the blog. Cathy xx
