1 week to go and had the pleasure of sharing a meal with the family before we head off on our adventure
We are now in the final stages of preparation for the Camino and have 99% completed our packing kit for the Camino. Whilst there is a lot of information available to assist one in ensuring that the absolute minimum is packed and that everything has a purpose, if not, multiple purposes, we have followed the more liberal approach, whilst still keeping below the magical 10kg upper limit.

We had our “French” Scallop shells given to us by Phillip and Thierry. Initially we thought they might have been too big to hang on our backpacks, but after visiting Brad and seeing his scallop shell, we realised they were perfect! These shells will travel with us and are fitting for the fact that we will be starting out on our Camino from France and also for Phillip and Thierry’s love of France.

We got a special opportunity to meet with Brad Kyle, author of “Memoirs of a Pilgrim” and a number of Children’s story books. We had a great time catching up over coffee and croissants and to hear of Brad’s experiences as a Pilgrim. Brad’s book was an inspiration to us to follow his footsteps on the Camino and he allowed us through his book to get a glimpse of the raw emotions he personally experienced whilst on his personal journey along the Camino. Thanks Brad and Ruth for your time and hospitality and we’ll keep in touch!
