Tour du Mont Blanc – Day 9
We are in Switzerland and already it has become obvious that your money doesn’t go as far in comparison to Italy or France. Our accommodation is a good example of this as whilst we have been extremely fortunate to have our own room, we do have to share a communal bathroom. Brings back memories of the Camino!
The accommodation in Switzerland has been clean, but very basic. Tonight’s accommodation is better than the night before, but still shared facilities. Looking forward to returning to France tomorrow.
Today’s hike wasn’t as tough as other days even though we still ascended and descended around 800m. We had perfect walking conditions with plenty of sunshine but cooler temperatures. The views are away from Mont Blanc, so not as spectacular as we have become familiar with, but very Switzerland, very alpine and green with great views down into the valleys below.
Our lunch stop had the best views of the day and we got to enjoy sampling some traditional Swiss food before finishing off with a snooze in a deckchair out in the sun!
It was then the long descent down into another pretty valley for the evening. Tomorrow is a mega day with a 1300m ascent and descent. So an early night to prepare for the big day!
